Making low carb simple

Instructions

Spicy mayonnaise

  1. Add the ingredients to a small bowl, and stir to combine.

Chicken stir-fry with broccoli

  1. Heat the olive oil in a wok or large frying pan, over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, garlic powder, and pepper. Stir-fry for a few minutes, until the chicken turns golden brown.

  2. Add the broccoli and tamari soy sauce. Stir together for a couple of minutes until the broccoli is crisp, yet tender. Spoon into individual bowls, and serve with the spicy mayonnaise on the side.

Can I freeze and reheat this dish?

While stir-fries freeze just fine, mayo typically does not. That said, if you freeze this dish, we’d suggest using up the leftover sauce with another meal — and making a fresh batch when you go to reheat the stir-fry.

Made this with a few edits and it was fantastic! All leftovers consumed immediately by my kids. I only had frozen chicken breasts, so used those instead of thighs, added more broccoli, subbed coconut aminos for the tamari (husband can’t do soy) and added a couple green onions and some grated ginger and sesame oil. I am sure this increased the carbs some, but still very reasonable. Skipped the mayo. Will definitely make again, very quick dish, very satisfying.

I made this tonight and I was very pleased. I added 1/2 tsp of organic minced garlic and about 1tsp of freshly grated ginger root. I was happy to have found the Tamari soy sauce at Publix. I used the low sodium version . Tamari had a better flavor than regular soy sauce. I probably used about 1/4 cup because I didn't think 2tsp would do it. It was delicious. No leftovers! Also I used Siracha for the spicy mayonnaise. The recipe did not specify what type of hot sauce to use. What do y'all suggest? Thank you.

You can simply use your favorite hot sauce. Just be sure it has clean ingredients!
Many people like popular brands such as Tabasco or Cholula.

The spicy mayo sauce is divine! I used 1/2 cup of mayonnaise instead of 3/4 cup though. The sauce came out spicy and salty! Red Hot, Hot Sauce by Frank's works great with this. I normally eat rice with chicken and broccoli to fill me up. Substituting mayo instead of rice really did the trick in filling me up!

The spicy mayo sauce is a great substitute for dippin sauce like ketchup or bbq sauce. It tastes soooo good!!!

What is the serving size please?

For the serving size, you will divide your finished dish into the number of servings you have the recipe set. You can do this by portioning it out or by doing a visual estimation. You can also set the recipe for 1 serving to see a single serving is 1/2 lb of chicken and 2.5 ounces of broccoli.

My family really enjoyed this. I used frozen chicken breasts and put the sauce mix (using Braggs) on it and did it in the oven from frozen, so not a stir fry. Steamed broccoli and spicy mayo (with Sriracha) on the side. I would never have come up with this on my own and would have had rice in the "olden days". Loved it! Thank you!

Hi! This is an amateur question... does the Tamari sauce come within its ingredientes with sugar? I really do think so. Or maybe you know about a brand that is sugar free? Thank you for the receipt. Looks delicious, I am going to try it for lunch today.

Tamari will have carbohydrates but should not have added sugar.

I love this! Only found the recipe sometime this month. Already becoming one of my go-to recipe basics. First made it with the pre-sliced chix breast from store, about two weeks ago. Several times since then. Adding ginger powder to the garlic & pepper. Tonight - I made it using thin-sliced Tenderloin. Mixed wasabi powder with the mayo instead of hot sauce. OHHH delicious!

Nice looking recipe, but why do you use olive oil for an Asian dish? I make food like this all the time and use coconut oil, but I was curious if I were missing something about keto/low carb and the use of olive oil for Asian food. Thanks.

You can use either, as indicated in the recipe list. Some people have more difficulty locating refined coconut oil and prefer the more neutral taste of olive oil. Avocado oil would work well also.

I used coconut aminos and coconut oil. The mayo (I used Sir Kensington's avocado mayo and Frank's hot sauce) had nice flavor, but no "heat" at all. Toasted sesame seed might be a nice addition. I crumbled DD seed crackers on top. This was quick, easy and delicious. I considered sesame oil--but seed oils are inflammatory and coconut oil has health benefits.

Yes, you can substitute another vegetable. Look for one that is a similar carb count as broccoli. Green beans could work well here.

Sesame oil is a good substitute on the oil…lots of flavor. Check your label on soy sauce, Tamari, or aminos…they should all be fine. Just make it a habit to check labels, you never know about changes companies make too 🙂

Oh my goodness, this was amazing. The only changes I made were soy sauce instead of tamari and for the mayonnaise, I used 1/2 tsp of Mexican spice instead of hot sauce. The only hot sauce we had was Tabasco which I don’t like. The mayonnaise, though altered, was a tasty addition to the meal. I had to hold myself back from eating two servings. 😂 Will definitely make this again.

It depends on the specific recipe. In this dish, the spicy mayonnaise is not cooked. The garlic powder will dissolve fairly easily and people may not want to bite into pieces of raw garlic in the mayo.
